IIG Youth and Student Initiative Building Sandwirt Innsbruck
New public spaces are created through rooftop terraces, the boulevard, and the courtyard. The former Sandwirt area lacks a nature-inspired meeting point. The proposed building can provide young people with various nature-inspired and cultu- ral experiences. For example, they can listen to their favorite music in the panoramic bar on the rooftop terrace, meet for studying at the boulevard or in the study café, or walk along the river Inn together.
The created multifunctional green space and the northwest direction provide an unre- stricted view of the Nordkette mountain range. Welcome to the mountain. The loosening of the building volume through cuts in the area along the Inn River provides young people with space for cultural engagement with the surroundings. The created multifunctional green and open space allows young people room for thought and provides small and
large meeting points. The large courtyard is surrounded by the individual building parts and creates spatial separation in the densely built-up area. The large rooftop areas allow for a diverse range of uses, including sunlight and views. The variety of roof levels along the path of the sun and the views of the Nordkette create a green rooftop landscape that invites different types of use. In addition to a bar, a stage, areas for sports, and urban gardening, the large panoramic park offers new quality of stay on the rooftop.
